AVPUCK started their week with a Tuesday night trek up north against number 1 ranked Duluth East.   A hat-trick by Sean Lang and a solo goal by Christian Smith weren't enough to catch the Greyhounds - final score was 6-4 Duluth over AV.     Some questionable officiating by didn't help when a high stick goal was allowed for Duluth, and a subsequent goal by the Eagles was denied for the net-post off.   Shots were 39-20 in favor of Duluth.

Next up was arch rival Eastview at home on Thursday.   JV began the evening with a 3-2 win over the Lightning.   Tyler Heuer with one goal and Matt Swanson with a pair to give the JV Eagles the win.

Varsity shut-out the Lightning 4-0.   Derek Smith kicked off the scoring with a goal from the point on a pass from Tate Erickson.   Next Jake Niederer turned on the jets for a break-away and dangled one past the Eastview netminder.      Dusty LaFrance would follow that up with a goal in the 2nd period assisted by the Smith brothers - Derek and Brandon.   Ben Keckeisen deflected a slapper from Anthony Benda to top it off in the 3 period.   Final was 4-0 Eagles over Lightning.   Senior goalie Matt Koziy made 18 saves and notched his first shutout of the season.

Saturday night at the BIG arena in Bloomington started off with another JV win 6-4 over Jefferson.   That's 4 wins in the last 5 games for JV!   Scoring for JV was Tim Toavs, Jacob Smith (2), Logan Kohorst, Patrick Daly & Trey Jones.

Neither the Eagles varsity nor the Jaguars could find the net for the first period.    Junior goalie Jordy Charles and the Eagles defense fought off a Jefferson 5 minute power play to the end the first 0-0.    Ben Keckeisen broke the tie early in the 2nd period with a rebounder over the top of the sprawled Jaguar's netminder.   Half way through the 3rd period Sean Lang made it 2-0 with a wrister on the blocker side.    In the final seconds Sean Lang found the net again on the glove side but the buzzer sounded and the goal was denied.   Final score 2-0, and the first shutout of the season for Eagles goalie Jordy Charles.

The Eagles play Prior Lake at home this Thursday, Jan.26.
